How this calculator works
The calculator estimates resting energy requirement, then applies a practical multiplier based on species and life stage. It gives a starting point, not a guarantee. Recheck body condition, appetite, stool quality, and weight trend after 10 to 14 days and adjust when needed.
Important scope note
This version is designed for dry food only. It can help with many healthy adult pets, but it is not a substitute for individualized planning in pregnancy, lactation, serious illness, advanced growth-stage feeding, or therapeutic diet formulation.

This calculator is designed to help you better interpret pet food labels using established nutritional math and current AAFCO reference standards. It is not a rating system, and it does not determine whether a food is “good” or “bad.” Instead, it provides clarity so you can evaluate nutrient levels in proper context.
